Fire Lieutenant Chief Tim Kurth started with Windsor Heights Fire Department in early 2000 as an 18 year old with a passion to give back. After being present when the FD assisted with my grandfather, I was immediately compelled to join. I was met with open arms by Fire Chief Al Hunter and Asst. Chief Jim Burnes who helped mold me into the man I am today.
Education & Training
I started my medical training at Mercy College of Health Science were I received my EMT-B before immediately continuing onto Paramedic school. My passion for EMS opened the door to Mercy ER where I worked as an ER tech for 5 years. I was then fortunate to have the opportunity to become a career member of the Windsor Heights Fire Department in January of 2008.
My bachelor’s degree in Fire Science Administration is almost complete through Waldorf University with a graduation date of early fall. I also hold certifications of Firefighter 1 and 2, Officer 1 and 2, Instructor 1, Inspector 1, Driver Operator, Car Seat Safety Tech as well as many certifications through FEMA and International Code Council. I serve as an active member with the Iowa Firefighters Association as well as the Iowa Pro Chiefs and the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Family & Interests
I have an amazing family with my wife Eileen Kurth and our 5 children Harrison, Harper, Hadlee, Hutch, and Holden. We are active within our Christian community as well as the foster community by welcoming children into our home to assist with the reunification of the children and their biological families. We are passionate about the outdoors and love being together as a large family unit.
My passion for people and the community of Windsor Heights keeps me focused day in and out to continue to provide the best services possible to this unique and well deserving group. I have loved the last 18 years with the city and I’m excited to spend that many more here.
