69th & Allison Construction

Project Overview

These two streets are being bid as one contract. There is extensive storm sewer installation occurring on Allison Avenue. A new water main is being installed on 69th Street from School Street to University Avenue. This project will begin in April or May and should be finished by the end of November. Both of the streets are having minor sanitary sewer repair work done while the street is under construction.

5/29/20 Update

69th Street

For the week of June 1st, the Contractor will begin work on storm sewer installation at the intersection of School Street and 69th Street along with preparing the roadway for pavement. The plan to get that intersection completed and opened back up in the coming weeks. Access into Colby Park parking lot may have delays at times, please plan extra time if entering or leaving the parking lot. Due to unforeseen utility conflicts, the project may see some delays moving forward. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the Contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. The Contractor maybe working on Saturdays throughout the project to keep things on schedule.

Allison Ave

For the week of June 1st, the Contractor will begin sanitary sewer work and then will begin work on the storm sewer on Phase 1. All work is weather dependent. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the Contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. The Contractor will bring them back Friday afternoon. Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic. Another reminder, please remove any items located within the street right-of-way (10-12 feet from back of curb) that you want salvaged.

5/22/20 Update

69th Street

For the week of May 25th, the Contractor will begin work on storm sewer installation along with working at the intersection of School Street and 69th Street preparing the roadway for pavement. They will also be completing some water main work at the intersection along with installing the last water service on Phase 1. The plan to get that intersection completed and opened back up in the coming weeks. Due to unforeseen utility conflicts, the project will be occur some delays moving forward. After the week of May 25th, little work will be completed due to the conflicts. More will be shared with those residents once more information is obtained. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. The contractor maybe working on Saturdays through out the project to keep the project on schedule.

Allison Avenue

For the week of May 25th, the Contractor will begin removing pavement on Phase 1. Once pavement is removed they will begin installing the storm sewer. All work is weather dependent. Notices will be placed on your door by the contractor stating the time cars will need to be removed from driveways. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. The Contractor will bring them back Friday afternoon. 5/8/20 Update

For the week of May 11th, the Contractor will continue to install water services on Phase 1. Water outage to transfer your water service to the new water main requires the water to be shut off for approximately 30 – 60 minutes. You will be notified immediately before the work is done by a knock on your door by either the Contractor or DMWW. Please let the water run through the bathtub faucet or outside hose bib for two to three minutes once the water is turned back on. All work is weather dependent.

MidAmerican Energy will continue removing trees and will begin moving poles for storm sewer and street installation. Those property owners with tree removals have already been contacted. All work is weather dependent.

For the week of May 4th, the Contractor will continue on underground utilities (watermain & sanitary sewer) on Phase 1.  The contractor may begin transferring water services from the old main to the new main.  A water outage to transfer your water service to the new water main requires the water to be shut off for approximately 30 – 60 minutes.  You will be notified immediately before the work is done by a knock on your door by either the Contractor or DMWW.  Please let the water run through the bathtub faucet or outside hose bib for two to Three minutes once the water is turned back on.  All work is weather dependent.
