7/31/20 Road Projects Update

69th Street Project

For the week of August 3rd, the Contractor will finish the storm sewer installation on Phase 1 and begin grading the roadway for paving. Paving is anticipated to occur the week of August 17th. It is likely that residents can get in their driveways the week of August 17th or the week of August 24th. All work is weather dependent. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. Pick up times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time.

Allison Avenue Project

For the week of August 3rd, the contractor will finish roadway grading. The week of August 10th street paving operations will begin. Driveway installation is anticipated to begin for the week of August 10th and August 17th and its likely that residents may start using their driveways the week of August 17th. All work is weather dependent. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic. Another reminder, please remove any items located within the street right-of-way (10-12 feet from back of curb) that you want salvaged.

College Drive Project

Driveway installation is anticipated to begin the week of August 10th. Its likely that residents may start using their driveways the week of August 10th and the week of August 17th. University Avenue Project

During the week of August 3rd, the Contractor will begin sidewalk work and other restoration work. West bound traffic will be closed between 70th Street and 73rd Street for the majority of the week. That traffic will be detoured down 63rd Street to I-235 to 73rd Street (follow signed detour route). The detour is anticipated to end the week of August 3rd. Work at 70th Street is anticipated to begin August 6th. This work will close the north half of the intersection of University Ave and 70th Street. This part of the intersection is anticipated to be closed for 2 months. With this work traffic changes are anticipated to occur early morning of August 6th. Please drive with caution. All work is weather dependent. All businesses are open. For everyone’s safety, monitor traffic control changes and no texting while driving. Watch for construction workers and added construction truck traffic. Do NOT follow trucks into work zone.

2020 PCC Patching Project

During the week of August 3rd, the Contractor will pour concrete on the east half of the roadway and then begin removals on the west half later in the week once they can drive on the east half. It’s anticipated that the closure will last until August 14th. Please find an alternate route. For everyone’s safety, monitor traffic control changes and no texting while driving. Watch for construction workers and added construction truck traffic. Do NOT follow trucks into work zone.
