11/13/20 Road Project Update

The anticipated schedule for each stage of the project is in the table below. Please note that these are estimates and may change depending on weather and utility conflicts.

Stage 2 (73rd Street to 75th Street):  For the week of November 16th, the Contractor will be work on remaining sidewalk.  They will also continue backfilling and cleaning up the site.  Final grading may not occur until the spring along with seeding.  All work is weather dependent.  Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up.  Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time.  Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic.

Stage 3 (Plaza Circle to 78th Street):  For the week of November 16th, the Contractor will be pouring intersections and driveways and sidewalks.  They will begin backfilling once all concrete work is completed.  Final grading may not occur until the spring along with seeding.  All work is weather dependent.  Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up.  Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time.  Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic.

Stage 4 (78th Street to Harbach Blvd):  Work on Stage 4 is anticipated to begin the week of November 16th.  The Contractor will be putting out door hangers closer to the start date to inform property owners of the start date.  As a reminder, please remove any items located within the street right-of-way (10-12 feet from back of curb) that you want salvaged).  This work is weather dependent.

69th Street Update

*phasing is dependent on winter weather conditions. The contractor will not begin stage 4 if forecasted temperatures would not allow paving operations to continue.

Stage 2: For the week of November 16th, the Contractor will begin grading sidewalks and driveways once the street concrete has cured property to allow for traffic.  All work is weather dependent.  Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the Contractor to pick up.  Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time.

Stage 4:  For the week of November 16th, the Contractor will continue water main work and may begin installing of water services later in the week.  Notices will be given for planned water shut offs to those affected residents.  This work is weather dependent.

Allison Avenue Updates

Stage 2 (middle of Allison to 64th Street):  For the week of November 16th, the Contractor will continue concrete work including driveways.  Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the Contractor to pick up.  Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time.  Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic.

Stage 2B (64th St Intersection):  For the week of November 16th, the Contractor will begin removing pavement along with installing storm sewer.  The intersection will be closed starting Monday morning.  Notices have be given to residents in the area.  Signs have also be installed informing users of the closure.  Please find alternate routes.  Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up.  Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time.  Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic.

University Ave

The anticipated schedule for each phase of the first half of the project is in the table below. A map of the phases is found at the end of this letter. Please note that these are estimates and may change depending on weather and utility conflicts. Elder Corp is working on a plan to transition into either Phase 2A or 2B. At this time, they plan to begin work on 2B before 2A.

During the week of November 16th, the Contractor will finish pouring the south side of the 70th Street intersection.  Work on traffic signals between 70th Street and 73rd Street will take place along with work on street lighting.  Work is weather dependent.  All businesses are open.  For everyone’s safety, monitor traffic control changes and no texting while driving.  Watch for construction workers and the added construction truck traffic.  Do NOT follow trucks into work zone.
