10 Ways to Stop Shoplifting in Your Store

It's holiday shopping season which brings in more customers and, unfortunately, more sticky fingers. Here are Public Safety Director Chad McCluskey's top 10 tips for stopping shoplifting:

Keep your store organized and tidy
Know common shoplifting tactics
Optimize your store’s layout
Install security cameras
Add mirrors to your store
Use customer service as prevention
Use signage to deter thieves
Train your employees
Use retail inventory management tools
Identify at-risk items

Additional things to consider:

Secure merchandise located in entryways / exit areas / outdoors
Record serial numbers and identifying information on high value items
Be sure to lock all doors / windows when closing the store for the night
