1. How do we get information about City events, programs and services?

Check out the City's Facebook page, Twitter page and Instagram. The In the Heart of it All newsletter that is sent to all City residents and businesses and the City E-Newsletter which is sent out weekly.

2. How do I sign up to receive news releases?

Go to the Notify Me page, then scroll down to News Flash. Click on the envelope icon next to “Press Releases” under the News Flash heading. If you have not signed in to the website (you must create a profile to use the Notify Me feature), it will ask you to sign in, then you can subscribe to receive Press Releases. 

3. How do I subscribe to the E-Newsletter?

The City News Bulletin E-Newsletter is e-mailed to subscribers every Friday morning. To view past issues of the E-Newsletter, go to the E-Newsletter archive (see link below). To subscribe, scroll to the bottom of the archive page and click on "Join Our Mailing List." This is a free E-Newsletter. E-Newsletter Archive or text Windsor Heights to 22828 .

4. How do I get to the City of Windsor Heights Facebook page?

You do not have to have a Facebook profile to view the City of Windsor Heights Facebook page. You can read wall posts and comments as well as discussion threads and you can view photo albums. You can click the engage with Windsor Heights button on the home page to see updates from Facebook and Twitter.

1. Why do I need an account to ePay?

This is the only way the website will allow payments to be made - software restriction. That said, what it does allow you to do is create a record of your transaction. When you create an account you will have a "My Account" page that will keep track of and display your purchase history. This is important to show proof of payment. The easiest way to create an account is to use the, create with ’Facebook’ option. Creating an account with the "New Account" option will require you to validate your account creation by email and then creating a password in the next browser window. You will only have to create an account once per email. 

2. When do they test the early warning system sirens?

The early warning alarm system sirens are tested on the first Saturday of each month at about 12:00 noon unless severe weather is imminent.

3. What is the curfew in Windsor Heights?

The City has curfews for certain public places, such as parks. The parks are open:

Sunday - Thursday

5 a.m. to - 11 p.m.

Friday & Saturday

5 a.m. - Midnight

The city Greenbelt Trail is available for 24-hour usage.

4. When can I be fingerprinted?

The Windsor Heights Police Department currently offers fingerprinting services Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm inside the department, located at 1133 66th Street in Windsor Heights. 

The cost for print services is $20.00 per print card if paid by cash or check. If payment is made using a debit or credit card, an additional $2.50 processing fee will be added to the total cost. 

5. Is it legal to discharge a firearm (aka shoot a gun) in the City?

Sec. 40.05.07 of the City Code makes it unlawful for any person to discharge (shoot) any rifles, shotguns, revolvers, pistols, guns, air guns, BB guns, or firearms of any kind within the City limits except by authorization of the Council. This includes any air gun, including handguns, capable of propelling a pellet or other projectile from the barrel of such gun by non-explosive means, such as compressed air, CO₂, or other gas.

6. How do I know if my child has to wear a seat belt or sit in a car seat when riding in a vehicle?

You should adhere to the following laws:

• Children must ride in an appropriate rear-facing safety seat until one year of age and at least 20 pounds.
• Children must ride in a child safety seat or booster seat through the age of 5. (Seats must be used in accordance with manufacturer’s directions.)
• Children must be in a booster seat or seat belt between the ages of 6 and 11, regardless of their seating position within a vehicle.
• Rear seat occupants up to age 18 must be secured by a safety belt.
