During the November 6, 2023 City Council meeting, council approved a bid from Caliber Concrete, LLC to complete the first phase of Colby Park improvements.
Preconstruction meetings are expected to begin November 2023.
Main construction is estimated currently to begin April 2024 with substantial completion by the end of September 2024. All work will be weather dependent and this time frame may change as preconstruction meeting take place.
Phase 1 Improvements include the following:
Removing the traffic circle and installing a new plaza entry
Removing existing playground and installing a new playground
Installing a splashpad
Relocating gardens
Relocating recycling facilities
Additional Parking
Phase 1 will also have a number of accessibility improvements as well:
The addition of inclusive playground equipment
Sidewalks and curbs in front of existing ADA stalls will be redone to make them compliant
New ramps in both the front and back of the Community Center; the front ramp will include railings
All new sidewalks put in will be ADA compliant

A new ADA ramp was poured at the NE corner of the community center the week of November 28.
The tennis courts are permanently closed and the playground has been closed for demolition work.
Community Center and Park Facility Rentals
City staff will be in contact with those who have rentals booked during the construction period as preconstruction meetings with the contractor begin.
