Overview

Crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility. It’s a partnership with the community. The police department’s role is to provide the information and tools you need to choose to not be a victim.

“If you see something, say something” is the crime prevention motto.

This programing includes business and residential security surveys, vacation watches, child safety programs, bicycle safety, safety heights, codeRed and Nixle alerts.

Scam Awareness Alliance

The Scam Awareness Alliance aims to reduce the effectiveness of scams by spotlighting the tricks and scenarios fraudsters use. Don’t stop being kind or giving, but learn the “red flags” of scams and practice safe habits that may keep you, or someone you love, from becoming a statistic. The Alliance has posted 3 videos depicting scams - the lottery, romance, and a person in need.

NextDoor

NextDoor is a free private network for you and your neighborhood. You can keep up with neighborhood events, look for a baby sitter, or ask if anyone knows a good plumber. You can also use it for crime prevention. Windsor Heights Police Department has partnered with NextDoor.com to be able to communicate directly with residents. This is a 2-way relationship. Each week, crime prevention and/ or safety topics are posted by the Community Resource Officer. Residents with questions or comments are able to reply to the post and get answers or communicate directly through private posts.
