Professional Work & Education
Lauren works in HR/Corporate training, focusing on leadership development and training strategy. She also owns Lauren Campbell Photography and The Studio in Windsor Heights.
Priorities
When Lauren volunteered to save the 4th of July Parade in 2018, she realized the City Council's incredible importance in the quality of life for residents in Windsor Heights. Lauren was motivated to run for City Council when she felt residents' concerns were only sometimes heard by all of the Council. She wants Windsor Heights to continue to grow as a place where people want to live, work, and play.
Lauren's goals include:
Economic development.
Reduce property taxes.
Improve communication from the Council, so residents understand upcoming votes and proposed changes to codes.
Grow the number of city activities and events that attract residents and visitors alike. Lauren chaired the 2022 Fall Festival and serves on the Special Events Committee.
Personal Life
Lauren grew up near Windsor Heights, spending summers down at Colby Park. Outside of some temporary relocations to west Texas and The Philippines, Lauren has called the Des Moines metro home for her entire life.
Lauren purchased her Colby brick ranch in Windsor Heights in early 2013. She and her husband have two kids, Saffron and Andrew, plus the world's worst guard dog, Tucker. Outside of work and her businesses, she enjoys spending her free time volunteering at City events (Movies in the Park, Fall Festival, Windsor Wonderland), attending events like Nights in the Heights, supporting local businesses, working on home improvement projects, and the occasional trivia night.
